And her book...
Life in the city gives 23 year old Amalia Hastings a ride she is not expecting. As she tries to find her way on the little island that never sleeps, she discovers she has a harder time navigating through life then she does the streets of Greenwich Village!
She thought she had everything she wanted – a new apartment in Manhattan, a first-rate education at NYU, a group of trusted friends and Nicholas, a boyfriend who she once believed was her soul-mate. But somehow, it isn’t enough.
Stumbling through her relationships, Amalia encounters Michael. An attractive classmate who quickly moves from being one of her close friends, to an inconsistent friend-with-benefits. After all, the only thing consistent about New York is its beauty.
Amalia is essentially torn between two men, and Michael is torn between two women. Her best friend Cassandra is being strung along by her "boyfriend", Bryce, and even her friend Olivia is having a secret relationship!
After getting terribly lost searching for love in all the wrong places, Amalia finds herself asking – what happens to men when they move to Manhattan?!
Where to buy her book...
And now for her shoes...
These are my favorite pair of shoes that I own. They are about 4 ½ inches high, so I don’t get to wear them nearly as much as I’d like to, but if I could I would probably wear them every day! They’re probably the most expensive pair I own.
I first wore them when I was interviewed for dating advice (of all things!) on a show here in America called My Carolina Today. I was so nervous to go on the show and talk about my book (which was merely self-published at this point) and also to talk about dating advice from my Huffington Post articles. I felt like my shoes gave me a bit more confidence, kind of like Cassandra in my novel. She is always wearing Louboutin’s and if I could afford to, I’d always be wearing them too!
For the morning show, I wanted to wear something sophisticated and trendy, but not trashy. So the Mary-Jane style caught my eye immediately. They felt youthful enough that I didn’t feel like I was trying too hard to come off as an “expert” which my publicist at the time kept calling me.
As far as my preferences go, I am definitely not a sneaker person. In the summer, I am always in flip flops or high-heeled sandals. Ah, to live in a world where heels don’t hurt! There’s nothing more lady like that a gorgeous high heel.
