PRETTY FEET... featuring Eva Scott

4/30/2014

Today on PRETTY FEET I'm welcoming Eva Scott, all the way from Australia. Eva is celebrating the release of three fabulous romance books, Reluctant Wedding Planner, Marriage Makeover, and T'was The Night Before Christmas! And she's brought along three pairs of amazing shoes too!
Picture
About Eva...

Eva lives on the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland Australia in the town which brought the world the Bee Gees. When she’s not writing romance you can find her out on the water kayaking, fishing or swimming. When on dry land it’s all about the shoes and the coffee (and old Bee Gees records).

And here are her lovely books...
Picture
RELUCTANT WEDDING PLANNER

Dr Camden James is a rural vet, not a wedding planner, so he quickly feels out of his depth when, in a fit of generosity, he offers to glam up his sister's budget wedding in a secret move designed to surprise her. With only six weeks to make this the wedding of his sister's dreams he needs to move fast.

Stumbling around in the largely female world of weddings he gets a lead on the go-to girl for wedding flowers - Georgiana Mac Intyre. Georgi, reeling from a very public breakup, is not interested in men in anyway shape or form. Not even super-cute vets - even when they are clearly interested in her.

Cam shamelessly uses his story to get her to help. It has all the elements; romance against the odds, true love, orphans (you can't have good story without an orphan or two), and a bride.

Picture
MARRIAGE MAKEOVER

Nick and Talia Carmichael were childhood sweethearts. Grief over the death of their baby daughter from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome crushed their marriage. Talia moved to a new city, with a new career and life. Now it’s time to close the door on the past and ask Nick for a divorce.

Nick has other ideas. Once his wife, always his wife. He has no intention of letting Talia off so lightly and proposes terms and conditions to his agreement. It will mean moving back into their marital home, and force her to face long buried grief. Can she do as he asks?

Being with Nick causes her to question everything she thought was true. Has she made a mistake thinking her love for Nick is dead? Can he still love her? More importantly, can he again trust after everything they’ve been through?

Picture
T’WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

During her Christmas Eve performance, part time Burlesque dancer Miss Ginger Snap looks out into the crowd to see her first and only love, Clay Roberts. The man who broke her heart and betrayed her. The man who caused her to flee her home town to Sydney and never look back. Desperate to avoid him, she makes a mad dash for the last train back to her home town in time for Christmas.

For Clay time stands still as he recognises the dancer. He’s certain it’s Jessica King. She ran out on him at their high school graduation and he’s been searching for her ever since. After missing her train, Clay convinces Jessica to travel home with him.

Can Clay convince his one true love to give him the opportunity to atone and a second chance? Can Jess risk being hurt again by the man she loved?

And now for Eva's shoe thing...

And today we're in luck because three books means three pairs of shoes – Eva has chosen a pair for each of her heroines...
(Awww, don't you just love those tiny toes?)

Marriage Makeover Shoes

The feet in this picture actually belong to my 3 year old son who was more than happy to pose for me.  In the story Talia returns to her roots on the coast, away from the sophisticated life she has built for herself.  These shoes speak of summer nights, beautiful beaches and brown bodies.

Picture
Reluctant Wedding Planner Shoes

I love snakeskin! In Reluctant Wedding Planner, Georgi has some trouble walking across a lawn in her “wedding” shoes. I bet these shoes would be a disaster on grass too!

Picture
T’was The Night Before Christmas Shoes

These are exactly the sort of shoes I would have chosen to wear to a night club when I was eighteen (it was the 80s after all!). Pink suede. Yum.

PRETTY FEET... featuring Lori Connelly

Today on PRETTY FEET I'm welcoming the fab Lori Connelly, whose book The Lawman of Silver Creek is an evocative historical novella set in Oregon... This is the second book in Lori's wonderful Men of Fir Mountain Series.
Picture
About Lori...

I was born and still live in Oregon. Despite being a good student, my teachers complained about my tendency to daydream. The tales dancing through my imagination were frequently far more entertaining than real life. As far back as I can remember I made up stories, to calm my sister after a nightmare, entertain myself in boring classes and write in countless notebooks, many never again to see the light of day. I earned a BS from Eastern Oregon State College and married my best friend almost twenty years ago. I’ve three brilliant, handsome sons, one amazing daughter-in-law, a beautiful granddaughter and two spoiled dogs. When not writing I love to read, hike, camp, rock hound, and take long walks with my husband just after it rains.

And her book...

The Lawman of Silver Creek

For fans of Diana Palmer and Linda Lael Miller comes a new novella in The Men of Fir Mountain series.

As sheriff of Silver Creek, Matthew Marson’s job is to look after his town. But when he fails to protect the most important person in his life, Claire, from an attack, Matt feels as though he will never be able to forgive himself.

Her husband-to-be’s newly found overprotectiveness drives the headstrong Claire from his arms. She can’t see a future with a man who won’t allow her to follow her dreams.

In a small town where everybody knows your name and your business, it’s impossible for the pair to stay apart, especially as Claire finds that she can’t completely turn her back on the lawman that she loves.

“If you want an emotional romantic adventure in nineteenth century frontier America this is for you.” Jane Hunt Reviews

And now for Lori's happy boots...

And their story...

Pretty is in the eye of the beholder…

I need to let you all know from the start, I’m a tomboy.  I live in jeans and t-shirts, rarely wear make up and doing my hair means brushing it.  And my sister inherited all the shoe-loving genes, leaving me none.  She has too many shoes to count and I have six pairs total: comfortable tennis shoes I wear daily, hiking boots, winter boots, summer sandals, slip on flats (for when I HAVE to wear a dress) and rubber boots.

That said I do have a favorite pair - my rubber boots.

I’m a rockhound, ever hear of one?  In the United States the recreational hobby of collecting rocks from their natural environment, (known as amateur geology in other places) is rockhounding.  Therefore, I, a person who searches for pretty rocks and collects them, am arockhound.

Oregon is an awesome place to rockhound in with a wide variety of rocks, and semi-precious gemstones available to collect off public lands: thundereggs, obsidian, petrified wood, sunstones, obsidian, agates, fossils, jasper, etc.

With my family, I’ve visited Glass Butte, a well-known obsidian collecting area in Central Oregon’s high desert with a massive deposit of obsidian approximately four million years old.  The picture shows my husband holding a piece of obsidian in his gloved hand (obsidian is sharp) standing in Glass Butte, if you look closely you can see more obsidian scattered all over the ground.

Picture
Occasionally we travel up to the Quartsville Recreation Corridor, a large section of Quartzville creek that is open to public gold prospecting.  The recreational area extends for miles.  Although we’ve only found a few flakes, it’s fun to try.  Here are my husband and my middle son gold panning in the creek.
Picture
Mostly my family and I wander the hills, meadows, friend’s properties, creeks and rivers seeking out particular rocks we find beautiful.  For myself, I love petrified wood and Jasper, especially Jasper.  Some day I hope to have a nice shed with a rock saw and tumblers to polish my cut stones into lovely pieces of jewelry.  On the left is one of my pieces of petrified wood, and on the right are a few of my pieces of Oregon jasper.
One draw back to rockhounding in the waterways is that my Oregon rivers and creeks are often filled with snow melt water.  They are freezing to wade in, bearable for any length of time only in the hottest months.  Therefore, when I go out rock hounding in or near water, I wear my boots to keep my feet dry.

I love those boots, because they let me do what I love.

PRETTY FEET... featuring Lisa Fox

Today on PRETTY FEET I'm welcoming the fab Lisa Fox, whose book One Kiss was released by Harper Impulse on 2nd January. And great timing there, given it's all about finding love at New Year!
Picture
Thank you so much for having me over, Jane!

About Lisa...

World-renowned neurosurgeon, jet fighter pilot, secret member of American royalty, seducer of legions of beautiful, outrageously sexy angels and demons and vampires and werewolves and the occasional pirate, Lisa Fox has done it all… in her own mind. In reality, she can generally be found at her desk with a cup of coffee close at hand. Or maybe a martini. It really depends on the day.

And now for her book...
Picture
One Kiss

Sometimes one kiss can change everything.

New Year's Eve is supposed to be a night for celebration and new beginnings. For best friends Kat and Dean, it is a nightmare filled with disastrous dates and enraged ex-girlfriends!

Lucky for them, they've got each other to help laugh off the embarrassing, and downright inappropriate, moments. But then midnight rolls around and neither of them have anyone to kiss…

There's no doubt this is a night they will always remember.

The real question is whether it will be a night they want to forget…

And their story...

First publications are cause for major celebration. A few years ago, when I sold my first book, I had plans for my royalty check. Big plans. I was going to go to Vegas - no Rome - and I was going to drink fine wine and eat wonderful food in the company of handsome (and much younger) men.

Sadly, I had more expectations than readers at that point and the check I received was not going to support any of those pipe dreams. Still, it was enough to do something special with and I really wanted to get myself a nice treat.

So, I decided to buy some shoes.

I lust after anything and everything Fluevog, but they are usually way out my price range unless they are having some kind of amazing sale. On the day I bought my shoes however, I was not concerned about price. I set out one fine morning, cruising the glamorous SoHo streets with one mission in mind: buy a pair of awesome shoes.

I’ve only had a few occasions to wear my Fluevogs and all of those happened to be writing events, like conferences and book signings. I didn’t intend for it to work out that way when I bought them, but I think it’s mighty appropriate, don’t you?

Join the country scene to find out!

And now for Mandy's feet...

I have to say my feet are far more Coyote Ugly than Pretty Woman if I’m honest. So, with that in mind, I’ve done you a little day in the life of my feet at this year’s Country 2 Country music festival.

The majority of the time you will find me either in boots or flip flops. Very occasionally I will break out into something with a small heel but these moments are rare. And to go to a country festival you have to look the part...cue 12 hours spent in my cowboy boots on day one.

Picture

Thick socks and stamina is what you need for stomping the halls checking out the great bands and the merchandise. Look at these beauties from Vintage Cowboy.

Picture

But at the end of the first day my feet were KILLING ME!

Picture

Day two and what I really needed was to soak them in a nice bowl of warm, soapy water. What I did instead was carry on suffering for my style and added two extra pairs of socks. This worked for about...half an hour while I was watching these guys who were mostly wearing Converse.

Picture
Picture

It was time – the flip flops had to come out before lunch.

Picture

And that was me for the rest of the festival. Perhaps not cowboy but definitely comfy!
