Made in Chelsea?

Nathan Black is on a mission to prove himself. His family may be upper class and his cousin Matt might be a famous music producer, but he’s going to make it on his own. So as soon as he has enough money set aside, he’s quitting his bar-tending job on the King’s Road and opening up his own cocktail bar. He hasn’t got time for love, and definitely not with the spoilt Chelsea Princesses who flirt with him shamelessly every night. But is there something a bit different about the pretty blonde who’s just walked in?

Bournemouth girl Sofia Gold is reluctantly visiting old childhood friends in London for Easter weekend. Keenly aware she’s not part of their glamorous world, she’s more comfortable riding a surfboard than wearing designer dresses and towering heels… although she’s always had a soft spot for cocktails.

It’s never really bothered Sofia that she’s ‘one of the boys,’ and that her romantic experiences have been amazingly unspectacular, so when she meets gorgeous Nathan, why does she find herself faking an accent and pretending to be a London socialite? It can’t be anything to do with impressing him, can it? After all, she’s only in the capital for a few days…

But one impulsive kiss later, they both find themselves wishing for things they didn’t know they wanted.

Spring in Chelsea – will love blossom?

Advance review, ‘A fun, short read, 4 stars,’ Kim, Goodreads via Netgalley.

Today on PRETTY FEET we're welcoming Ann B. Harrison, all the way from Australia. Her fabulous book, Outback In Stilettos is just out, and already an Amazon bestseller in Australia.
Picture
About Ann....

After moving to the lush green Hunter Valley, Australia, Ann has the perfect surrounding to let her imagination to run wild. She alternates her time between writing sexy rural and erotic romances.

Men in kilts bring Ann to her knees and she can’t wait to visit Scotland where she can get her fill of the tartan clad hotties for, um research purposes, of course.

In the meantime, her DH puts up with her talking to her characters and getting lost in worlds only she can imagine as she battles to bring stories to the page for everyone to enjoy.

And her book....

Outback In Stilettos

The most popular soap on television hangs in the balance because Delilah Connors has lost her mojo. Her agent decides she needs a break.
Delilah disagrees but when her agent says jump, she jumps! She heads for the outback on a bus tour from hell. The coach smells, her seating partner is an octopus and the road leads nowhere she wants to go. It’s all too much.

She grabs her bags and hits the track. The trouble is the track leads to two small children and a widowed farmer. The kids are cute but not cute enough to compensate for an archaic kitchen and the filthy flies. Just when she’s getting the hang of the outback, the flies and that sexy farmer she’s summoned back to the big smoke.

Blake makes a last ditch attempt to plead his case but amongst the glitter and glamour of the Sydney film elite, he is way out of his depth.

And now for Ann's shoes....

And her shoe story...

I’m a country girl and shoes don’t really come at the top of my list. Not until I have to go to a writers conference, then I’m in a panic. Last year I decided to do something different to show off my quirky style.

Footrot Flats- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Footrot_Flats -was a big thing when I was growing up. I loved reading the comic books and found them so true to life. They kept me amused for ages. I was trawling the net one day when I came across decoupage shoes. This was what I was looking for! Different and certainly more me than sparkly shoes with impossible heals that would have me falling down stairs and wrecking an ankle before the night was over.

The hardest thing was trying to find the black and white comic books. Luckily we have a second hand book shop in our little town and I raided her collection. Then the fun began cutting and pasting the shapes onto my shoes.

They turned out great and went with the black and white cocktail theme perfectly.

How To Win A Guy In 10 Dates

“I saved your life twice and you’re refusing me a date?”

Take Millie: a fun, independent dance teacher starting over, whose burlesque classes are all about self-esteem and empowerment. Her new life plan definitely doesn't stretch to bad boys.

And Ed: he’s gorgeous, designs firework displays for a living and positively self-destructs at the thought of commitment. But he’s embarking on the impossible – a challenge to have ten dates with one woman.

When Millie literally lands in Ed’s lap after an accident, she’s an unlikely choice for the ten date challenge – scruffy, opinionated and then there’s the small matter of that tattoo snaking out of her boot – but he’s running out of options, and more importantly, she owes him.

She’s so not his type, he’s so not in her life-plan, but a weekend in sunny Provence changes everything. Against a backdrop of starry skies and lavender fields, they both have issues they want to leave behind. Secrets have a way of escaping though… is ten dates too long to keep the truth under wraps?

Nominated for Best Ebook at the 2013 Festival of Romance

“For those that like Sophie Kinsella style books, this is a cute story about a guy determined to prove he won’t fall for a woman…” – CocktailsandBooks.com

“Ed is my ultimate book boyfriend – I loved him from page 1…is it normal to be this attracted to a fictional character?”

PRETTY FEET.... with Teresa F Morgan

1/21/2015

Today on PRETTY FEET I'm welcoming the fabulous Teresa F Morgan, whose second romcom for Harper Impulse, One Fine Day, is out now.

Picture

Teresa tells us a bit about herself...

I live in sunny Weston-super-Mare, trying to hold onto my Surrey accent where I was born and bred.
For years I persevered with boring jobs, until my two boys joined my nest. In an attempt to find something to work around them, and to ensure I never endured full time boredom again, I found writing.
I am at my happiest baking cakes, putting proper home cooked dinners on the table (whether the kids eat them or not), reading a good romance, or creating a touch of escapism with heroes readers will fall in love with.

And about her book...

Picture
One Fine Day

Just a boy standing in front of a girl…

Steve Mason returns from Hollywood after 15 years to catch up with his sister, Ruby. He’s miserable because the woman he was planning on marrying has dumped him.

He’s now worried that with his A-list celebrity status he won’t find a woman who genuinely loves him. Ruby devises a plan to disguise Steve, so that he is unrecognisable as the famous Hollywood actor, in a hope to help him find true love. It worked for Clark Kent, right?

As Steve searches for his not-so-perfect woman and has a taste of normality, his relationship develops with his sister. But will he find the right woman before he has to head back to his real life in Hollywood?

And her shoe story....

A friend and I go to the cinema every now and then, while our kids are at school. And my friend is a bit of a shopper (whereas I am not), and we always end up popping into House of Fraser.

Well, on one of these particular occasions I spotted these Dune shoes, tried them on and saw they were an amazing bargain price of £28! So I had to buy! And get the handbag to match (which was also in the sale – but cost more than the shoes – work that one out). I’m not usually one for such high heels, but I have always wanted to own a pair of Dune shoes.

And I’m glad to say I have worn them at least twice without breaking my neck. Here, you’ll notice at the RNA conference Gala dinner with my fellow Harper Impulse authors.

And her novella, Sexsomnia….

And here’s Madeline's shoe story....

I am not a shoe gal—I am a barefoot gal.  I used to be the  one “most dressed like a neuter” in high school, but went to a posh college where frumpy girls came in and  four years later miraculously graduated with a sense of style.  It wasn’t until my first big romance conference that I discovered something about myself—I am a purse lady! Out of nowhere I suddenly coveted an expensive white Coach Bag.  Why purses and not shoes? Who knows. I am very tall--maybe I just don’t look down enough?  At any rate, I now get the shoe thing, if only by proxy.

So here it is: my one and only shoe-gasmic story. First, I will admit to a horrible crush on all things Anthropologie.  It’s a bohemian store here in America – do you have it in England?  They have lovely shoes which must be made by tiny, well unionized elves who are paid in gold and diamonds—they are much too expensive for me to ever contemplate getting a pair.

At any rate, one summer day I popped into the store and like Alice in Wonderland, wandered into a shoe sale, all tucked away back by the dressing rooms.  I started cramming my feet into anything my size, including these lovely boots which are almost steam-punk.  They make my feet look tiny, and they are also comfy.  The shoe-gasmic part was that they had been marked down from a price I could only whistle at to $30.00 – about fifteen pounds.  Aren’t they pretty?  I was in shock that such glorious shoes could be mine.  It took me about a week to recover.

Amaya gazed up at the Torc, not because she wanted to, but because she was powerless to look away. The magic she’d needed to free the prisoners couldn’t have slipped more easily off her tongue, if it had been the medical terminology she used daily. And despite the fact that Makani, Blaike and Bri were already struggling to their feet, she was still holding the Torc aloft. It was glistening, sending shivering shards of light splintering into the darkness of the chamber.

In all the years they’d guarded the Torc, she’d never seen it like this. It was as if somehow all the power within it had ignited in the face of extreme danger.

Her arm was still high above her head, where she’d reached to snatch it from the air. Except it hadn’t felt like snatching, it was more as if the Torc had come hurtling towards her with the force of a guided missile, and embedded itself in her fist. And although her elbow was strangely numb, locked into place by the force of the Torc zapping into her hand, stinging pulses were zinging between her wrist and her shoulder.

She was aware of the sudden physical weight of the Torc, pushing down through her shoulder now, reinforcing the weight of her responsibility. It was back in their possession, and the safekeeping of the Torc was once again down to her and Makani. They had been the guardians for as long as she could remember, but without ever truly understanding the power of what they were protecting. Now she and Makani knew better, the enormity of their role as custodians made Amaya’s stomach quake. But rulers? That was something else.

It took a seismic burst of energy from her, to force her eyes away from the Torc. Across the room, Blaike’s arms were protectively entwined around Makini. Her heart gave a lurch as she saw Bri leaning against the stone wall, long silver hair tangled, rubbing his leg. She had to force herself to prise her gaze away from Bri, to check that Tasaria was no longer a danger. That problem was sorted, temporarily at least. Tasaria was a heap on the floor, surrounded by guards. Looking up again, Amaya was aware that everyone was staring at her, with an unnerving air of expectation.

She inhaled sharply. Amaya, the girl who submerged her power, would never have stepped up, but what about Amaya, the woman who had emerged tonight, who embraced her magic self and all the associated power to do good.... What would that Amaya do?

‘So....’ She gave a diffident shrug in the direction of her allies, unhappy to be thrust into this position. ‘Any ideas what we do next?’

Makani and Blaike standing as one, said nothing. The silence hung long and heavy before Bri finally shuffled, shifted his back against the megalithic stone wall, and spoke.
‘You need to put on the Torc, Amaya.’
His low grating tone sent a shiver down her spine.
Amaya shook her head. ‘It’s not my place to put on the Torc, Bri....’
Bri took a step towards her and when he spoke his voice was stronger, firmer.
‘It’s time Amaya. There are battles to be fought, it’s time to unleash the power of the Torc for good. For that to happen, it needs to be worn....’

Amaya heard the bang of her heart as it jolted against her chest wall. ‘But there are two of us in the line. What about you Makani?’ She looked pleadingly at her sister. Surely Makani, as the elder, should take it.
‘The Torc  chose you Amaya.’ Makani eased herself out of Blaike’s tight embrace to stand tall and straight, and her words rang out. ‘It was your hand it flew into. It chose you, for your strength, for your wisdom, for your goodness. It chose you because you are ultimately discerning, and also, no doubt, for your sass.’ She broke off to send Amaya a half smile. ‘And I already have my ring. In that way, I am already spoken for.’

Amaya caught the tender smile that passed between Blaike and Makani, and was happy that her sister had finally found love. But Blaike’s expression was grave as he raised his head to address her.
‘It’s true Amaya, you are the chosen one. Before, you were merely a guardian, but it’s time for you to own the Torc. And by staking your claim, your magical powers for good will multiply exponentially. We will all be needing those, and sooner than you think.’ He gave a deep sigh.
Amaya’s knees sagged. Her? No way was she up to this job. ‘I’m not sure I can....’
‘The Torc had no doubts Amaya.’ Blaike’s words were low, yet determined. ‘You can, and you will. And what’s more you must hurry. Come over here, let Makani place it on you. If it’s placed on you by another, the power is greater still.’

Amaya moved across, and Makani took the heavy gold band from her hand, and a moment later the Torc closed around Amaya’s neck. A fierce warmth immediately infused her body. ‘Strange, now I’m wearing it, the Torc isn’t heavy at all.’

‘Can you feel the heat yet?’ Bri scrutinised her face, relaxing his gaze as she nodded. ‘Heat means the power of the torc has already passed to you.’ He squeezed her hand. ‘In that case, we need to move on, and fast, because there is one task left to us. To ensure our nations will be safe, we need to deal with Tasaria, and deal with her once and for all.’ His voice, suddenly harsh, rang into the darkness.

Amaya still a little dizzied by the Torc heat and Bri’s hand squeeze, felt her jaw drop, but it was Makini who turned to him, wide eyed with disbelief, her voice little more than a squeak. ‘You want us to kill her?’

Bri dismissed that comment with a derisory snort. ‘Who said anything about killing? There are four of us, we should be strong enough to drive out the evil from Tasaria, and disarm her for good, especially given that Amaya now has super powers. Quick, all four of us need to make a circle around Tasaria. Blaike, Makani, this is urgent. If we do it whilst she is weak we stand more chance of success.’

He tugged Amaya towards the fallen Queen, and as he motioned to them, the guards fell back into the shadows. ‘Now link hands around her, and shout out all together, “bono malum superate” – it will drive away the evil.’

Funny how Bri always surprised her with the immense depth of his knowledge, and his ability to take charge in a crisis. Amaya took a breath, fixed her eyes on the crumpled body of the Queen at their feet, and bellowed, ‘bono malum superate, bono malum superate, bono malum superate....’

Tasaria moved a little, and gave a low moan.

Amaya looked at Bri expectantly. ‘Is it done?’
Bri gave a grimace. ‘Not quite, we’ll try again. After three, one, two....’
They did, but the result was similar.

‘Damn....what the hell’s going wrong here?’ Bri let out a cry of frustration, and blew out his cheeks.

Makani jumped in. ‘Is there a problem?’

Blaike was almost hissing. ‘Of course there’s a problem, and Bri already knows exactly what it is. The power of four in the circle is complex, and dependent on the relationships of the people in the circle. If there’s a couple involved, the circle only reaches the peak of it’s power when it’s made up of two times two, as in two couples. A couple plus two singles has way less strength, and then there’s a worst case scenario, where there’s a couple and two people attracted to each other, but who are in denial.... In theory Amaya’s power should be enough to counteract the singles. The only case it wouldn’t be enough is if the attraction of the other pair is huge and unfulfilled....’ He gave Bri a piercing stare, as Tamaria pushed herself up to sitting. ‘Over to you Bri, but the longer you mess about, the stronger Tamaria becomes....’

Bri kicked the dirt floor, and exhaled. ‘I apologise to whoever I offend for this.’

Amaya only had time to open her mouth in surprise, as Bri grasped her, spun her around, ran his slender fingers through her lopsided pony tail, and brought his mouth crashing over hers. Sweet, delicious. Everything she’d longed for and more.

The warmth that infused her body was not at all the same as when Makani had almost throttled her with the Torc, only minutes earlier. This time the heat roared through her like a jet stream, and rushed to different places entirely. Gasping, she put a hand on Bri’s shoulder to steady herself.

‘Not the way I’d planned this Amaya, nor the most romantic declaration in the book,’ Bri paused to flash her a rueful grin as he pulled away. ‘I promise I’ll do better later, but just so you know, and to make it perfectly clear to the powers of the circle of four, I want to be with you, I have to be with you, and if you’ll have me, please just hold my hand Amaya, and lets get this thing done.’

‘Good point well made....at long last.’ Blaike gave a low, knowing laugh.

‘Of course I’ll have you Bri,’ Amaya beaming deliriously, grasped Bri’s hand, and then caught Makani’s too, to close the chain again. ‘There’s nothing I’d like better. Count us down Bri, let’s see if we can drive the evil out of Tamaria this time.’

Amaya blinked as a gust of air blasted past her face with the force of a tornado, and through half closed eyes she watched dazzling sparks arc from the Torc to Tamaria. Tamaria pushed herself up to sitting, and gazed around the circle giving each a weak, yet very benign smile.
‘Blaike, Bri, how lovely to see you, but why so many fireworks? It’s like something from Harry Potter.’ She rubbed her head, her brow creased into a puzzled frown, as her voice cracked anxiously. ‘And Makani and Amaya too, is everything alright? You aren’t hurt are you?’

Bri turned to Amaya. ‘Good going, I’d say that’s more than one job well done. This is for saving both our worlds.’ His arms closed around her, and he pulled her into a long kiss.
In the distance a clock was striking twelve, as Amaya stood on tiptoe to breathe in his ear.
‘For this year at least.’
